It’s Christmas 1st again! Happy “official” start to the holiday season. If you know me, you know I’ve already been in the spirit, decorating and celebrating since November 1. I love this time of year, and I always try to stretch it out. December is just not long enough for all the traditions—or all the Christmas movies!
A few years ago, I made bingo cards for the classic made-for-TV holiday rom coms, but I feel like they’re really experiencing a renaissance this year. Netflix has put out several originals, and Hallmark is still cranking out dozens for the season. If you’re unfamiliar, these movies all tend to follow simple, feel-good storylines and wrap up all the loose ends in a glittery red bow in a quick 90 minutes—or a couple hours, if you watch it live with commercials. They’re filled with classic holiday scenes, like caroling and ice skating, and watching them is one of the easiest ways to get yourself in a Christmas mood. Because of all the renewed interest, I updated the bingo cards and have even added a few new tropes this year.

Nothing is better than a warm mug, a group of friends, and a predictable Christmas rom com. If you want to have a fun night with friends this winter but are too busy to plan anything extravagant, these bingo cards are perfect! Tell everyone to come in their pajamas, make a crock pot full of cider or hot chocolate, and enjoy! Because these movies tend to be predictable, this game is the perfect backdrop to catch up and chat over. There are six different cards, so you can get your whole group together—and if you do host a holiday rom com bingo party, tag @fortheglitz and #HolidayMovieBingo so I’ll see it! (And if you’re so inclined, the tropes on the bingo cards can easily play double duty as a drinking game!)
If you’ve already watched my recommendations from the last time I made bingo cards, check out some of the new movies on Netflix this year! Some of the ones I’ve already watched are Christmas Inheritance, The Holiday Calendar, Christmas With A View, Merry Kissmas, The Princess Switch, The Spirit of Christmas, and Christmas Crush. If you make it through all of those, don’t worry—Netflix can (and definitely will) recommend even more! And of course, you can see new ones almost every night on the Hallmark channel.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll definitely want to play this multiple times. I love using Hershey’s Kisses or peppermints as markers. This year I found these Dove chocolate peppermint bark squares that look like presents, and I think they just might be the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Candies are perfect little treats during the movie, and make clearing your board for the next one in the queue super simple. Because obviously you’ll be marathoning your way through these movies, right? Oh, that’s just me? Cool.
Tell me about your favorite holiday movies in the comments or on instagram @fortheglitz! Are you more of a fan of traditional holiday stories like Miracle on 34th Street and It’s a Wonderful Life? Or do you love playing #HolidayMovieBingo along with feel-good rom coms like me?
